Open Dice for iPhone

Help with Open Dice

Open Dice is a dice roller for iPhone. Pick how many six-sided dice you need, tap, and read the result. This version has no account, ads, sound or subscription.

Roll

Use − and + to choose 1 to 12 dice, then tap the dice or the Roll button. Each die tumbles and lands face up in a fixed grid, so every die is always readable. The total shows once the last die lands; tap the Total card to hide it (for example, when a child is adding the dice up for homework) and tap again to show it. Open Dice remembers both choices.

Your rolls

Every roll you make is kept on your iPhone, newest first, with a chart of how often each total came up for the number of dice you're using. Open Your rolls and tap Reset rolls to clear the list; it asks first. The last 10,000 rolls are kept.

Simulate

Tap Simulate to roll your dice 10, 100, 1,000 or 10,000 times, or type any number up to 1,000,000. You'll see how often each total came up and, for up to 1,000 rolls, every roll in order. Simulated rolls are not added to Your rolls.

Are the dice fair?

Yes. Every die, real or simulated, uses the iPhone's built-in secure random number generator, which gives each face the same chance. Simulate is a quick way to see it for yourself: with two dice, 7 comes up most often, the way it does with real dice.

Motion

If Reduce Motion is on in Settings ▸ Accessibility ▸ Motion, the dice change without tumbling and Simulate skips its animation.
