Open Metronome for iPhone
Help with Open Metronome
Open Metronome is an offline metronome for iPhone. Tap Start to begin and Stop to finish. Use your iPhone volume buttons to change loudness.
Set a tempo
Choose 20 to 300 BPM. Drag the tempo slider, tap a printed scale mark to select it exactly, or use + and − for one-BPM adjustments. Tap tempo several times to match a rhythm. Changes made during playback restart on beat one.
Meter and subdivision
Choose 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, or 6/8 and one to four clicks per beat. In 6/8, the two main beats are dotted quarters; choose three clicks per beat for six eighth-note pulses. The numbered beat lights show the current main beat and are not buttons.
Sounds and presets
Settings offers Wood, Click, and Bell sounds and an optional first-beat accent. Open Presets to save a named rhythm and return to it later. Presets and settings stay on this iPhone.
Locked screen and other audio
Playback continues when you lock the screen. By default, starting the metronome pauses other audio and shows system media controls. Tap pause on the Open Metronome lock-screen card or in Control Center to stop. Settings → Play alongside other audio lets you practice with a backing track; in that mode, stop inside Open Metronome.
Audio interruptions
Calls, unplugged headphones, and audio-output changes may stop playback. Return to the app and tap Start when ready. Bluetooth devices can add audible latency; the visual beat indicator is a guide, not a latency calibration tool.
