Open Reader for iPhone
Privacy policy
Open Reader contains no advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs and has no Open AppCo server. It does not collect your books, what you read or how far you have read.
No network for your books
Open Reader does not go online to show your books. Pages are drawn from the book’s own files on your iPhone; images, fonts or scripts that a book tries to load from the internet are blocked, and a book’s own scripts do not run.
On your iPhone
Books you add are copied, unchanged, into the app’s folder in the Files app (On My iPhone ▸ Open Reader). Your reading positions and type settings are stored in the app’s container. No account is needed. Deleting the app removes its folder and data; iOS backups are controlled by your device and Apple settings.
Files you choose
Adding books uses the system file picker and reads only the files and folders you select. Sharing a book uses the system share sheet; once you share the file, the destination’s privacy practices apply.
Help websites
Support and Privacy links open your browser. GitHub Pages hosts these pages and receives technical request information under GitHub’s privacy statement. The Open AppCo website uses PostHog pageview, click analytics and masked session replay; these website tools are not embedded in the iPhone app.
